UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind celebrates 20 years of service to CCMS and Los Angeles area youth
Posted 9/13/18

This year our beloved UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind celebrates 20 years of service to Los Angeles area youth. Thanks to our deep community support, particularly from our school partners at CCMS, we have made significant strides in fighting childhood obesity and inactivity.

As we fully integrate into the UCLA Health system, we are very excited to share some updates with you.  We are now in 127 Los Angeles area middle and high schools (141 schools nationwide) and by fall will have impacted more than 750,000 students putting them on a better path to health and success in life. Research has shown that after participation in our program, students have improvements in healthy behaviors and actions, feel better about their body image, and enjoy fitness more.

I would also like to share with you our book, Break a Sweat, Change Your Life, which contextualizes what we do here at UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind. With the help of word-renowned medical experts and master physical educators, the book reviews the compelling evidence that exercise confers a wide range of physical, cognitive and mental benefits, and calls for more robust PE in our schools.

We are excited to be able to share our journey with you, and hope that you find the book helpful and relatable. Please distribute them as you see fit.
